… on Twitter … Twitter??? Yes, darklined.com goes Twitter. Thanks to something coming up at work I need a better understanding of what Twitter is and how exactly this works. I figured the best way would be to jump right in and create my own channel. Do I have something to say? Honestly I don’t think so am not so sure, but find out for yourself and follow darklined_com on Twitter
Facelift 1.0
Browsing around the internet I felt it was that time again – darklined.com could use a little facelift. Before you ask, yes, i really like doing this
The changes involve little coding work and were quickly done, but I think the new way of presenting posts with the larger images is a step in the right direction. Still some work left to do: … Read Full Post >>
More tweaks
The tweaks to the site continue – this time concentrating on the sidebar.
· The layout of the gallery navigation has been changed making it a bit more streamlined and visual.
· I have added a new category called Specials to the sidebar to showcase event coverages for example.
· I have implemented a theme switcher for your convenience so you can choose between darklined light or darklined dark. Dark is set as the default theme.
About the theme switcher … I am not sure if this will stay. Overall I think the dark theme is much better than the light version and maintaining two designs means additional work. Thoughts? Opinions? What do you think? Please let me know.
Ok, now back to … what was this site about? … yes, painting miniatures
*UPDATE*
Yesterdays comment about the new gallery navigation made me rethink things yet again … I liked it, but maybe Gerrie was right and 36 images at 50×50 pixel might have been a little too cluttered. Luckily the display system is very flexible and I can change certain things on the fly – now the sidebar showcases only the 16 latest miniatures, sorted by date posted descending, with the thumbnails being 75×75 pixel. I think the sidebar does actually look more tidy now while still being interesting visually. Thanks Gerrie.
Back in black
Or almost black at least. After hearing some comments that the latest colors were too light and not really fitting for a site titled darklined I decided to create a negative version (more or less …) of the previous theme. Next up on the To-Do list: create or implement a theme switcher so you can decide whether you want to see darklined light or darklined dark.
I have been on vacation for the last (almost) three weeks. We have been to South Africa for our honeymoon and we had a fantastic time. South Africa is a beautiful country and the people are very warm and friendly. But it wasn’t all holiday – my wife convinced me to bring some paints and a miniature along and I actually managed to squeeze in about an hour of “work” starting to paint Heinz Stargazer. Heinz Stargazer is a Reaper miniature and a fantastic sculpt if you want to practice your blending. Will I ever finish him? Well, to be honest I don’t know, but it sure was an unbelievable experience to paint under the sun of Africa while Warthogs and Kudus were passing by only meters away
