Crimson Hawk

This Crimson Hawk – painted in Clan Jade Falcon Delta Galaxy colors – was my contribution to the 2014 edition of the annual Christmas Exchange on Camo Specs Online. I always liked the overall look of the Crimson Hawk, but the miniature has its flaws. Trying to correct the miniature I modified it to match the loadout of the primary (standard) configuration. I added the hands from an Arbalest, clipped off the weapons on the right arm and added the claws and the large laser muzzle to the right arm. The claws were sculpted around a failed attempt to create a press mold copy of the left arm claws. I have also resculpted the beak to make it look closer to areal bird of prey and I have added a spacer between the torso and the back so that the arms could actually move … as mentioned, the original miniature does have its flaws 😉

For the paint scheme I quickly settled on the Delta Galaxy scheme. To me, this is the most Jade Falcon-ish scheme, but it has been done so many times that it is difficult to give it a new twist. I tried to make it ‘my own’ scheme by painting the yellow highlights as stripes and not solid colored areas and elements. Also the green is rather vivid and bright compared to my usual works. Overall I am quite happy with the result, even though I now see many things I would do differently. Maybe it is a good thing that I don’t have the miniature anymore …

As it is an official scheme you can also find the Crimson Hawk on CSO with a terrain background and slightly overexposed pictures).
