Gradient backgrounds
It is time to bring back some selected content presumably lost during the recent reset of darklined.com. In this first installment of ‘Return’ I would like to reintroduce the gradient backgrounds I use for taking pictures most of the time.
In general the choice of background when tacking pictures of miniatures is quite important. The background acts as a frame and shouldn’t interfere or distract from the miniature. Also the background shouldn’t mess around with the camera settings (e.g. color balance which can easily happen when you use a bright and loud color). A blue to white gradient is a very good background for this purpose as the blue usually doesn’t interfere with the camera settings and is neutral enough not to affect the colors on the miniature.
Mostly I use the dark blue to white gradient. Just experiment around and let me know what you prefer
To get the best results I suggest you print out the background on an A4 paper using an inkjet printer (a laser printer often results in a shiny finish which is less than perfect for the desired purpose).
